Some of my friends call me a clean freak, and who am I to complain? They’re absolutely right. I just can’t stand living in a messy home and I think it’s really important to keep everything neat and tidy. Apart from creating the right impression when visitors come around, it’s also just must nicer to live in a clean home. It puts me in a more positive state of mind and helps me to feel good when I’m relaxing. Of course that doesn’t even cover the hygiene issues. Who would want to live in a dirty house, putting themselves at risk of disease, illness and allergies?
One of the problems that I’ve had in my home is the floors. In my last house, it was fully carpeted throughout which was easy to deal with thanks to my trusty vacuum cleaner. However since I’ve moved here, we have hardwood floors and I haven’t found them so simple to clean. Although I have a hardwood attachment on my vacuum it doesn’t seem to get the job done quite so well. I can see dirt and grime left behind after I’ve been vacuuming and I don’t like it!
I’ve recently switched to using a classic mop rather than the vacuum but I haven’t been very happy with that either. It takes a long time for the floors to dry and I’m worried that I’m putting too much water on the wood. I’m also worried that I’m just moving the dirt and bacteria around the floor with the mop rather than actually getting rid of it.
I decided to find out more about what I could do to solve the problem. A friend told me that she’d visited https://steamclean.reviews/best-mop-tile-floors/ when she was looking for a steam mop, so I decided to see if there would be any information about steam mops for hardwood there since I’ve heard that they’re a good strategy to keep your space clean and they cut down on allergens and bacteria.
I did a bit of research and found two different models that are highly recommended for use on hardwood floors like mine.
This high quality model is ideal for wood floors with a microfiber cushioned pad and a specially designed triangular head to fit into tight spaces. It can even be used on carpets for spot cleaning thanks to a separate included attachment. It has a good build quality and a long warranty and as an added bonus it is simple to use and lightweight. It’s even affordable! Heating rapidly in just 20 seconds, this 5lb steam mop holds plenty of water (400ml) without adding bulk. It even comes with its own filling cup to allow measurement of water easily for no mess.
Fitting perfectly into corners, it has a large footprint to cover space rapidly. It can swivel a full 360 degrees for the ultimate in maneuverability and can be used on tiles too to remove grout marks. Proven to kill 99.9% of bacteria it requires no chemicals and as it produces a constant stream of steam it won’t cause cramp in the fingers! The steam level is adjustable to suit the floor type between 3 levels and it leaves only a tiny trace of water behind. On the downside, there is no alert to tell me when the tank needs refilling and there is no automatic shut off system which can be problematic since the system could be damaged if it runs on empty.
This top seller is popular thanks to its versatility, intelligent design and low price. Offering 3 levels of steam this model has an easy scrubber flip down brush to loosen the toughest stains. It comes with 2 machine washable microfiber pads which are easy to fit and which won’t damage hardwood floors. They are also given a Microban treatment to prevent the growth of bacteria. The removable water tank is easy to fill and with a long power cord it offers a lot of range. There are also fragrance discs included to leave the home smelling lovely. Capable of working on tile too, this versatile model leaves no haze on wood and is protected by a two year warranty. On the downside, when used in the deep clean mode, it does produce a lot of water which takes a while to dry.
